About the Role
The Autonomy Software team at Avidbots develops innovative software solutions in sensor integration, computer vision, localization and path-planning for autonomous robot guidance.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, talented and self-motivated Application Engineering Specialist to join our team. You will be the main technical resource in discovering, implementing and supporting new applications for our best-in-class robotic software.
The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with strong communication skills and great attention to detail. You will analyze robot usage behaviors, identify root causes of autonomy software issues, and work closely with an experienced software engineering team to ensure timely issue reporting and resolution.
How you will make a difference
Triage incoming tickets, gather relevant data and assist in the diagnosis process.
Analyze field data and robot performance metrics to preemptively detect issues.
Assist in conducting discovery, alpha and beta trials and by collecting useful data from which decisions can be made.
Support feasibility analysis of potential customer applications.
Ultimately bridge the gap between the technical support, customer care, and software QA teams and the autonomy software teams.
Key skills and experience
Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
1+ years of experience in an associated field such as application engineering, technical support or remote monitoring.
Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills.
Familiar with scripting languages such as Python and Bash and the desire to automate repetitive tasks.
Self-driven and self-motivated; you get things done with a passion for continuously raising the bar.
Excellent communication skills with peers and superiors and strong teamwork ethic.
Nice to have
Familiar with Atlassian (Confluence, Jira) and Google Suites
Proficient with navigating and working with Linux-based operating systems
Experience with robotics and Robot Operating System (ROS)
Passionate about using industry-standard tools for data visualization
