About the role:

The Head of Operations will be responsible of handling back-office operations such as budgets and purchases, creating and optimizing operational processes, manage internal and external communications and branding, drive employee engagement with events and team building endeavors, manage office space along with setting OKRs and KPIs.

This person will work closely with the Head of Human Resources and the Head of Studio to facilitate all the studio’s operations and create a positive employee experience.

Location : Montreal or Toronto

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for acquiring, designing, and maintaining studio spaces that align with Bad Brain culture and values.
• Research and identify potential locations for studio spaces in Montreal and Toronto considering budget and cultural fit.
• Manage office operations and real estate activities.
• Collaborate with designers to create a functional, ergonomic and inspiring work environment. Optimize layout to accommodate both creative and operational needs.
• Oversee the entire process of acquiring and setting up studio spaces, from concept to completion.
• Develop and implement processes & tools to maximize productivity and efficiency across the company while troubleshooting problems.
• Collaborate with NetEase Teams on general operational needs and political alignment.
• Assist with the quarterly and annual planning processes, including setting OKRs/KPIs and ensuring accountability.
• Manage internal and external communications and company perception by owning general strategy for Bad Brain’s branding & coms. Facilitate relationships between all internal and external departments.
• Coordinate onboarding of new employees and develop a world class “first impressions” experience.
• Develop and execute event strategy that is aligned with Bad Brain objectives. Plan and organize variety of events including team building activities, holiday events, gaming tournaments, industry conferences etc.
• Identify and secure suitable venues for events, considering capacity, location and tech requirements.
• Develop and manage budgets for events. Negotiate contracts with vendors, venues and suppliers to optimize expenses.
• Support, Manage, Plan & Grow an Operations Team.
• Manage Bad Brain Studios financial model and cash flow, including budgeting, tracking, approvals and cost reduction.

Qualifications for the role

• 8+ years of experience in business operations or finance.
• Strong financial modeling skills.
• Understanding of general business operational processes.
• Capable of Strategic Vision & planning paired with Visual Communication Skills to influence the future of the studio.
• Excellent organizational and team management skills.
• Familiarity with no-code tools and data analysis software (Airtable, Excel, etc.).
• Great leadership and sense of initiative.
• Ability to act independently and autonomously while understanding the need and at what level to update key stakeholders.
• Able to be creative, influential and problem solve.
• Experience with company operation software such as ATS, expense management etc.
• Strong analytical and research skills to inform the decision-making process.
• An aptitude in context switching across a breadth of responsibilities while prioritizing the highest leverage work you can do.
