Role Description – Pipeline Civil & Ground Disturbance Coordinator (Contract)

Successful candidates will be placed into a contract-based role and must be self-incorporated in Alberta.

The Pipeline Civil & Ground Disturbance Coordinator will be supporting an Owner construction management team by overseeing pipeline construction activities associated with the final tie-ins for a below-ground large diameter pipeline north of Fort McMurray, AB.

This scope begins approximately Feb 28, 2023 runs until approximately April 15, 2023. Start date is flexible. There is a significant possibility of additional work with our team following this project.

Consultant will be compensated by day rate.

Role Description

– Perform general pipeline construction coordination duties representing the Oil & Gas Owner and BenchOC construction management team.

– Manage all ground disturbance and crossing activities, ensuring safe location of buried facilities, proper notifications, and procedure compliance.

– Monitor all excavation, stockpiling, hauling, compacting and final grading associated with scope of work.

– Perform pipeline coordination activities with site contractors.

– Act as point of contact for pipeline crews, and escalate any project concerns immediately to Site Construction Supervisor.

– Assist with traffic control at road crossings and critical work areas.

– Monitor and coordinate heavy hauls of earthworks materials.

– Monitor personnel ingress/egress activities to ensure that safety requirements for work in these areas are being met.

– Work with Contractor safety personnel and management to ensure proper equipment arrival inspections, and recurring equipment inspections.

– Verify that Contractor has appropriate SWPs in place for all work activities. Monitor work activities to ensure general compliance with SWPs and good industry practice.

– Receive Near Miss reports and Hazard IDs from Contractor.

– Assist Contractor and Construction Supervisor with site incident reporting.

– Monitor worksite and laydowns for cleanliness, ensuring housekeeping is addressed with considerations for both worker safety and wildlife control.

– Provide daily report to Site Construction Supervisor itemizing all daily activities, potential project risks, and 24-hour lookahead.

Experience & Qualifications

– 15+ years of Oil & Gas pipeline construction experience, and 5+ years of pipeline construction coordination & ground disturbance experience.

– Significant experience with earthworks and heavy civil construction.

– Significant experience with ground disturbance and utility crossings.

– Strong leadership skills and experience with computerized reporting.

– Good ability to read and interpret construction drawings.

– Strong health & safety knowledge and experience.

– Experience with ground disturbance activities.

– Good communication skills; self-starter.

CSO (Common Safety Orientation) or CSTS (2019 or earlier)

Ground Disturbance Supervisor Level II (online course)

Fall Arrest Certificate (online – Energy Safety Canada)

Confined Space Entry Certificate (online – Energy Safety Canada)

Vehicle, Travel & Lodging

All work will be paid by day rate.

Day rate includes the supply and use of consultant 4×4 truck.

Lodging (camp) will be provided.

Fuel will be supplied to consultant on site at no cost.

Truck to be outfitted with mine package (positive shut-off for diesels, 12ft lighted whip, 20lb fire extinguisher)
