The Black Creek Community Association is seeking an Executive Director, responsible for the successful leadership and management of the organization and its facilities, in accordance with the policies & procedures and strategic direction set by the Board of Directors.
Primary Competencies:
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
1) Leadership – participate with the Board of Directors in developing a vision, mission and strategic plan to guide the organization; act as an advisor to the Board of Directors regarding all aspects of the organization’s activities, issues and trends in the community, and policies that affect the organization; foster effective teamwork between the Board and the E.D. and between the E.D. and staff; represent the organization to enhance its community profile
2) Operational Management – oversee the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the organization; oversee/direct staff in the planning, implementation and execution of their job role/tasks, ensuring it aligns with the mission/vision of the organization and community need; coordinate staff meetings; plan and manage all Human Resources needs for the organization; support preparation for Board meetings; draft policies for approval by the Board and prepare procedures to implement organizational policies
3) Financial Management – prepare a comprehensive annual budget for Board approval; research new funding sources and write funding proposals to increase revenue needed to cover determined priorities; approve expenditures within the authority delegated by the Board; administer the funds of the organization according to the approved budget; ensure that the Board and the organization carry appropriate and adequate insurance coverage and that terms are understood.
4) Community and Public Relations – communicate with public, media, community stakeholders, clientele and organizational networks to keep them informed of the work, purposes and positions of the organization; promote awareness of the BCCA’s mission and programs; build and maintain good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with all key stakeholders to help achieve the goals of the organization; represent BCCA on committees as appropriate
To be achieved specifically by (but not limited to):
· Identifying new funding opportunities and responding/applying accordingly, and managing all required follow-up reporting for funders
· Managing human resources, IT, and maintenance issues for the facility
· Communicating regularly with staff and Board and community stakeholders to inform, identify issues, resolve problems, and nurture opportunities
The employee must maintain First Aid certification and be willing to obtain a criminal record check. Some remote work is an option.
The E.D. position is currently a part-time position (approximately 20-25hr/wk). Wage will be commensurate with experience.
