We’re not just looking for a Senior Accountant; we’re seeking a financial innovator who can elevate our processes and contribute to the continued success of our Finance team. Your success will be measured by your ability to manage these six key areas:

Financial Operations & Reporting

• Create and maintain accurate working papers to support financial transactions and reports
• Ensure timely and accurate submission of financial reports to the Financial Controller
• Implement and maintain rigorous quality control procedures to minimize errors.

General Ledger Management

• Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers.
• Reconcile and analyze balance sheet accounts
• Post transactions to journals, ledgers, and other records
• Prepare journal entries for month end closing

Cash Management

• Accurately and timely manages all cash accounts. Reviews monthly bank reconciliations, wire transfers, deposits, and other payment processes to ensure vendors are paid in a timely manner
• Review, prepare and issue accounts receivable invoices in accordance with contract requirements and internal company processes
• Assist in the preparation of cash reporting

Compliance

• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and company policies
• Assist with external audits

Taxation

• Review and file sales tax returns and remittances including GST, VAT in a multi-jurisdictional environment
• Respond to sales tax audit requests

Management of the Corporate Visa Program

• Administer and oversee the corporate visa program, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations
• Coordinate with relevant departments to process and manage visa applications.
• Monitor and reconcile corporate credit card transactions related to travel expenses

What you bring to Blue Spark Energy:

• Bachelors degree in accounting or finance
• A recognized professional accounting designation is preferred.
• A minimum of 5-7 years in a senior accounting role
• Exposure to consolidated financial statements in a multi-currency environment
• Ability to expertly leverage technology tools to streamline financial processes, amplify reporting capabilities and drive process improvements for heightened efficiency and effectiveness, with a focus on ERP and CRM systems, preferably Salesforce
• High performance individual with excellent interpersonal skills who is open to direction, with a collaborative work style and commitment to get the job done
• Capacity for problem solving and a tolerance for unstructured situations combined with the ability thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace
