We are currently searching for a Human Resources Generalist – Corporate and Restaurant Services. Reporting to the Senior Director, Human Resources, the Human Resources Generalist – Corporate and Restaurant Services is responsible for providing reference materials and support to Canadian Boston Pizza restaurant in relation to HR best practices and policies. In this role, the incumbent must respond in a manner that is at arm’s length of the restaurants, avoids any implications of joint employer status, and protects BPI from exposure and liabilities related to franchisee employment matters. The role supports the BP restaurants with human resource general employment matters to their best ability.
Additionally, the Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for special projects with corporate office employees, including the assistance of the performance management cycle for corporate employees as well as Health & Safety matters for both the Richmond, British Columbia and Mississauga, Ontario locations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Employment Standards Act support related to general employment matters for Restaurant Services.
Establish standard responses and recommended courses of action to the Directors of Human Resources and Director, Operations regarding any HR related restaurants concerns, avoiding any implications of joint employer status.
Provide tools, templates and any other helpful information that may be required for Boston Pizza Restaurants to resolve employment matters.
Document, track and report on any Human Resources issues to the Operations team.
Health & Safety support
Provide feedback and guidance to field Operations regarding health and safety expectations, rules, policies and laws by their relevant province.
Update sample policies and required documentation to ensure franchisees have access to accurate and updated information.
Oversee the Health & Safety Committees for both the corporate locations (Mississauga, ON / Richmond, BC).
Performance Management Cycle
Supporting the Senior Director with transition of the process to online performance management tools.
Support the communication, timing, training, and overall process objectives, introducing new tools such as succession planning, development planning over time to employees and managers.
Maintaining the performance management process each year for BPI corporate employees.
Adhoc Requests
Ad hoc requests to support both BP restaurants and BPI corporate locations as required (TOKW, special recognition days, and other projects as needed)
Skills and Qualifications Required:
Diploma or degree in Human Resources, or related discipline
3+ years of generalist experience in human resources
CPHR is an asset
Provincial employment legislation across Canada; hospitality operations
Communication (written and verbal); attention to detail; organizational; analytical; problem solving; customer service; interpersonal; active listening; prioritization; multi-tasking; MS Office
Work independently and within a team; manage confidential information; build strong working relationships; empathy and composure.
