Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls (EIC) Specialist
(Vancouver BC or remote in Canada or the US)

We specialize in mine water management and enable mineral extraction projects to not only comply with stringent government regulations but also to operate in a socially responsible manner, putting value on clean water as a shared resource. We develop new technologies, design and operate water treatment plants, and provide ongoing technical support which enables us to continuously improve our designs and technologies.
The opportunity
We are looking to expand the capability of our design and commissioning team by adding a team member with a specific focus on the electrical/instrumentation & controls aspect of our water treatment plants to:
- Develop detailed engineering design standards as well as documentation (i.e. equipment specifications, P&IDs, instrument lists, load lists, single lines and control documentation)
- Design, repair, install, troubleshoot and perform planned maintenance and corrective tasks on electrical, pneumatic and/or mechanical control systems, instrumentation and automation platforms, devices and ancillary equipment
- Develop process automation for treatment plants (i.e. control narratives, instrument specification, PLC/HMI programming)
- Support (hands-on) in scale-up and piloting apparatus builds
Qualifications and requirements
- Technical diploma or experience equivalent in one of these disciplines: electrical, instrumentation or automation/controls
- 2-5 years of experience with a balanced mix of in-office and in-field:
» Developing EIC standards and procedures
» Facility electrical design – create and review single line diagrams
» Controls programming
» Hands-on plant commissioning and/or operation – ideally mining or industrial water treatment
» Instrument specification and installation
- Proven effective communicator – you can clearly explain your work and recommendations in plain and simple language to project stakeholders who do not have an EIC background
- Strong mechanical aptitude – you have built things before and can figure out how things work
- Can-do attitude – you always find a way to get things done
- Strong attention to detail and ownership; take responsibility for “getting things right”
- Build effective relationships within the company and with clients and suppliers
- Travel to remote sites within North America and internationally as required
- Ability to work remotely from your home office or hybrid from our downtown Vancouver office
