What you’ll do
As the Associate Director, Communications, you will be an integral part of our Marketing + Communications team, leading and building our content capabilities, and creating compelling, on-brand, and highly relevant communications for our owned and earned channels to amplify our brand story. You will use your keen understanding of how to harness the power of meaningful stories, thought leadership, and collaborative relationships with partners, to inspire action and accelerate change in child health ensuring every child BC and beyond has access to the best health care imaginable.
Reporting to the Director, Marketing + Communications, you will:
- Work in partnership with senior leaders to develop the strategic messaging frameworks for the brand and brand projects and channels.
- Ensure our content is compelling, strategic, relevant, timely and represents our diverse communities throughout the province, guided by clear audience needs, organizational priorities and channel objectives.
- Lead, coach and mentor a high-performing group of team members responsible for providing marketing and communications support for various needs and teams across the Foundation.
- Write and develop messaging, including writing speaking notes for senior leaders and key Foundation events, written stories for donor publications, and other key communication touchpoints.
- Create and execute a robust owned and earned media strategy, to increase familiarity, engagement, trust and revenue across a wide range of channels.
- Lead cross departmental content planning and editorial meetings.
- Steward, build and enhance relationships and collaboration with communications colleagues across our campus.
- Provide counsel and support on messaging, storytelling, media and writing strategies and approaches across Foundation.
- Review written and visual communications pieces for messaging alignment, consistency and quality.
- Oversee the Foundation’s proactive and reactive media relations.
- Serve as the initial point of contact for issues management and response.
- In concert with the Director, Marketing + Communications, build and strengthen marketing and communications team culture, processes and infrastructure to empower and inspire the team to do their best work.

What you bring

You will also bring exceptional and best-in-class skills and experience in virtually all aspects of communications, including messaging strategy, writing, issues management, media relations and stakeholder management. Your strategic, inquiring mind will have the opportunity to effectively collaborate with a great team to continue to push our thinking and advance our work.
- Relevant education and minimum of 7-10 years experience in content marketing, communications, or media relations.
- A seasoned writer of compelling and impactful communications aligned to brand voice;
- Articulate verbal communicator and presenter.
- An effective collaborator, partner and problem solver.
- Success in leading content and communications functions at complex, dynamic and sophisticated organizations.
- At least 3 years of experience managing people as part of a high-performing team.

This position is based in our office located in Vancouver, BC. As part of enabling the kind of culture and values that power the possible, we’re committed to creating a flexible workplace experience. We are currently piloting a fully hybrid work environment that allows individuals and teams to split their time between working remotely from home and in-office, with no defined minimum amount of time in-office.
