Bronson Technical Search Looking for Government Communications Consultant at Canada Full Time

Contract Term

Overview: We are seeking a dynamic Government Communications Consultant to develop a unified and effective communications approach. This role is crucial in crafting strategies, products, and messaging with significant reach and impact, primarily focused on the natural resources sector.

Mandatory Qualifications

• Experience:
• At least 5 years as a Communications Consultant within the last 10 years.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in the natural resources sector, particularly forestry, within the last 5 years.
• 2 years of experience in strategic planning and communications coordination within the last 7 years.
• 2 years of work experience in public relations.
• 1 year of experience in managing federal, provincial, and territorial relations.
• Education: A degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field is preferred.

Core Responsibilities

• Collaborate with I-Net, Working Groups, Task Teams, and the Secretariat to align communication efforts with the “Shared Vision: Toward 2030” and strategic priorities.
• Provide tailored advice and guidance to meet the specific needs of various groups and communication activities.
• Promote cohesion and well-coordinated communication strategies across all working groups and programs.
• Effectively manage workloads to ensure availability for key projects.
• Enhance the profile of the organization as a reliable source of information in forestry science and policy, both nationally and internationally.
• Identify and address key communication challenges in the forest sector.
• Create and distribute communications materials to deepen understanding of the forest sector, its environmental impacts, and promote factual discussions on pressing issues.

Specific Tasks

• Establish and implement a project performance plan, including development of work plans and performance metrics.
• Under the leadership of the Task Team Chair, develop a comprehensive communications strategy, identifying specific audience segments and setting detailed work plans with performance metrics.
• Ensure effective collaboration and information sharing among different working groups.
• Analyze current trends and practices in communications related to sustainable forest management.
• Conduct an inventory of all communications products from the past five years, developing a system for effective sharing.
• Regularly review and update the website to ensure it contains accurate and current information about the organization, its work, and members.
