The Opportunity:
As a valued member of the accounting team, you will work with the Director of Accounting on the management of the overall accounting/ financing operations of the Bruce Auto Group dealerships. You will work closely with the Executive Team to provide accurate information, including analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and preparing financial reports. Your ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders will allow you to provide support and direction in enhancing the company’s accounting functions and policies.
Responsibilities:
Establish and monitor internal controls to ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal regulatory and company policies and procedures.
Provide support to the Director of Accounting by reviewing, and analyzing monthly/quarterly and annual results for each dealership.
Prepare monthly financial reporting package to the manufacturers and lenders.
Provide strategic analysis, as required, to drive improved decision-making.
Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of financial information.
Lead the accounting team, providing direction and assistance, where needed.
Provide advice and guidance on all accounting/payroll functions including financial systems, record keeping, analysis, and reporting.
Coordinate the year-end audit and preparation of audited financial statements.
Generate reports of performance against budgets.
Assign and authorize cheques, purchase orders and invoices.
With input from the Executive, working with the Director of Accounting on the formulation of accounting policies, procedures, and controls.
What we are looking for:
University degree in Business/Accounting, with an advanced degree or CPA designation
2-5 years experience in a progressive role
Experience in automotive dealership considered an asset
Proficient communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are vital to the role.
Knowledge of budget preparation and analysis techniques.
Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, problem-solving, decision making and organizational skills are essential.
High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.
Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.
