About the WIL Pilot
The Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Pilot is a project that is catalyzed by CED, all 7 Post-Secondary Institutions (PSIs) in Calgary, Calgary Chamber, Calgary Chamber of Voluntary Organizations and partners across the city.
The WIL Pilot has 3 Elements:
A centralized digital platform that provides single portal access for a variety of WIL opportunities between Calgary’s PSIs and WIL providers.
A Secretariate that serves as a staff support team to assist in the development, adaptation, and promotion of resources from the digital platform.
An evaluation of the WIL pilot model and a feasibility study to scale the model to other stakeholders and other jurisdictions.
We’re looking for a WIL Employment Engagement Manager to join our team and work alongside employers across our city to develop a talent pipeline through work-integrated learning.
This is a 1 year full-time contract.
Job Summary
As the WIL Employer Engagement Manager, you will lead the development and execution of tools, resources, and processes to help post-secondary institutions and employers provide and manage work-integrated-learning (WIL) opportunities. The WIL Employer Engagement Manager will collaborate with other WIL Secretariate teams and project partners to identify strategically impactful employer segments to target, engage employers about their needs and challenges in contributing to Calgary’s WIL ecosystem, and support employers in the development and management of WIL opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy Development
Work closely with the WIL Process Enhancement Manager to develop an employer engagement strategy based on the best practices discerned from consultations and process improvement
Work alongside Career Services teams across the Post-Secondary Institutions to create an aligned engagement strategy and network of support for employers
Work collaboratively with the Executive Director of the WIL Secretariate to communicate strategy to the Executive Decision Making Group (EDMG) for the WIL pilot
Engage with other key internal and external stakeholders to align with strategic engagement plans across CED and partner organizations
Ecosystem Development
Maintaining relationships with the career services teams at the various post-secondary institutions to communicate best practices and processes for employer engagement
Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to engage with employers, such as Calgary Chamber of Commerce, Calgary Chamber of Voluntary Organizations, CED’s business development team, CPHR and other stakeholders
Work with Magnet, Orbis and other technology providers to communicate the use of the centralized WIL portal to employers
Organizing events / workshops alongside other members of Secretariate as well as with other partner organizations to engage the employer community
Employer Support
Drive the adoption and tactical deployment of tools, processes and resources development by the WIL Process Enhancement team
Maintaining relationships with the career services teams at the various post-secondary institutions to support employers with their WIL goals
Work directly with hiring managers within various SMEs and non-profits to develop WIL opportunities that will be mutually beneficial to employers and students
Communicate to employers various resources such as job description templates, project templates and subsidy programs related to WIL and support them in leveraging those resources
People Management
Lead a team of specialists focused on employer engagement and employer support, and ensure that team members understand role expectations and are fully engaged.
Set direction and vision for the employer engagement team, assigning tasks, roles and responsibilities to direct reports
Communicates with team members regularly to assess workload and determines priorities for the team; amending project work on a continual basis and directing workflows.
Provide guidance and mentorship to direct reports, supporting their personal development and growth
Engages with the team members to ensure adequate training is provided and tools / resources are supporting workflow and quality output.

You are a specialist in human resources, career services and employer engagement. You are interested in economic development and aligning post-secondary education to work and industry.

You enjoy working with many different stakeholders from across different sectors and have a strong ability to synthesize data from multiple sources into one cohesive strategy or vision.

Education:
Post-secondary education such as a degree in business administration, marketing, communications, human resources, or management.
Experience:
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience, preferably in career services or human resources, with 1-3 years of experience in people or project management
Previous experience working in a post-secondary institution or non-profit considered an asset
CPHR credential is considered an asset
Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
