Position Overview

Calian is seeking a Senior Learning Designer to support the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) Learning Support Centre (LSC), which provides integrated Individual Training and Education (IT&E) consultancy services, support services, and learning development services to continuously improve support to over 40 RCAF Training Establishments.

Responsibilities

Senior Learning designers’ tasks may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Conducting Quality Assurance checks on learning content products and interim deliverables.
• Conducting needs assessments in order to examine human performance issues, including:

1. Conducting performance analysis;
2. Conducting cause analyses; and
3. Identifying solutions and making recommendations.

• Assisting in specifying the required training and education outcomes in terms of essential on-job performance, including:

1. Performing job task analysis;
2. Specifying performance/education/learning objectives (POs/EdOs/LOs); and
3. Producing Qualification Standards (QSs) and/or Knowledge Standards (KS).

• Describing and/or selecting an instructional program, and Defence Learning Network (DLN) Courseware Development Guidelines, including:

1. Defining learner characteristics;
2. Performing instructional and learning paths analysis;
3. Preparing learning assessment plans;
4. Designing learning assessment instruments;
5. Identifying and costing instructional/blended learning strategies;
6. Specifying instructional strategies;
7. Specifying learning content and lesson guidance; and,
8. Producing lesson guidance documentation (design guidance documents and scripted storyboards).

• Producing effective learning instructional materials and Defence Learning Network (DLN) Courseware Development Guidelines, including:

1. Identifying training/performance requirements and determining sources of learning materials;
2. Making recommendations on the procurement of instructional materials;
3. Developing style guides for learning content;
4. Producing instructional learning materials;
5. Conducting beta testing and formative evaluations of learning instructional material to ensure compliance with specified standards and client requirements, and revising as required;
6. Design of student evaluation must demonstrate the required level of performance and include appropriate category and level in Bloom’s Taxonomy; and
7. Recording development costs of instructional materials.

• Evaluating instructional materials for possibility of conversion to eLearning in whole or in part i.a.w. Defence Learning Network (DLN) Courseware Development Guidelines and provide cost estimates of level of effort to convert legacy courseware to eLearning

Qualifications

M.1 Must hold a graduate degree and specialization in 1 of the following fields: education, adult learning, distance learning or e-learning.

M.2 Must have at least 5 years’ experience in course design.

M.3 Must have at least 2 years’ experience in designing e-learning products.

Or

M.1 Must have an undergraduate degree and specialization in 1 of the following fields: education, adult learning, distance learning or e-learning. M.2 Must have at least 7 years’ experience in course design.

M.3 Must have at least 2 years’ experience in designing e-learning products.

Or

M.1 Must have a college diploma (any field) or a university degree (any field).

M.2 Must have at least 9 years’ experience in course design.

M.3 Must have at least 2 years’ experience in designing e-learning products

Additional Requirements

· You will be able to obtain a Government Security Clearance at the Secret Level
