PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The CPKC Information Services Quality Assurance team is responsible for ensuring that all Information Services deliverables meet or exceed our customers’ expectations. As the Specialist, Quality Assurance , you will contribute to the successful delivery of business applications throughout all phases of the testing life cycle.
The Specialist, Quality Assurance will guide project teams in delivering infrastructures and applications that meet their test automation goals:
Provide oversight of automation of repetitive or high-volume manual test cases to increase testing efficiency and minimize test cycle durations
Support other automation specialists as automation tools’ system administrator
Design and develop automated test scripts and framework based on complex manual tests to improve the productivity of the testing team
Formulate and develop innovative ideas for automation on new initiatives based on agile methodologies
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
Elicit requirements from the development, functional test and/or business teams want as input to the design, development, execution and maintenance of effective automation test scripts using Tricentis Tosca, MF UFT or an equivalent automation tool for the applications or systems under test
Build automations test strategies and test frameworks based on the planned scope
Maintain existing or newly built automation test scripts for ongoing changes and maintenance to applications under test. Manage the storage, scheduling and execution of automation test scripts including tracking any issues and defects within Tricentis qTest or Jira.
Review results of the tests with various IS teams and clarify any observations. Make recommendations as required to improve the quality
Provide thought leadership on the use of Quality Assurance automation testing tools and processes to ensure CP delivers the highest possible quality software aligned with IT industry best practices
Manage and coordinate day to day SAP testing activities at the project team level. Coordinate SAP setup of test environments and test data management
Evaluate business software and/or system requirements to ensure they can be translated into both functional and non-functional tests. Understand the business future state including the existing software/system capabilities along with any interfacing systems and the planned enhancements being made to both
Translate the business software / system requirements into detailed test cases and test sets and record them using Tricentis qTest test management tools
Identify and create data required to execute test cases
Record any defects found along with supporting documentation and the steps to recreate the problem. Participate in defect review sessions with the software development team, the functional team, the business analyst, and the test manager to ensure clear communication of the defects found
Conduct peer review of test cases with other testers to ensure quality. Suggest improvements which would increase the quality of project deliverables
Participate in independent quality assessments to ensure the products and services delivered by delivery/project managers, business analysts, test engineers and their suppliers meet or exceed quality standards and objectives
Architect, design, write and execute test cases and test plans to support the quality assurance activities throughout the software development lifecycle. Keep detailed and meticulous records on the steps to recreate any defects encountered
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Post-secondary degree/diploma in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent work experience required
3 years’ experience automation testing using automation tools like Selenium or Tricentis Tosca or MF UFT or similar tools
Certification in Software Quality or equivalent experience
Familiarity in one or more of the technologies of networking, database, SAP and/or web technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, XML, ABAP, OData, Fiori, SAP CRM, SAP TM, SAP EM and HANA
NICE TO HAVE
Experience with JIRA is an asset
Experience with and effective use of test management tools such as Tricentis qTest or MF ALM, test automation tools such as Tricentis Tosca, MF UFT, Postman and Performance testing tool such as MF Loadrunner is an asset
