PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

This role is responsible for leading and proactively managing the end-to-end CP’s Software (and software maintenance) lifecycle portfolios and execution of its license management activities. Working with procurement and senior management, this professional will have a good understanding of Software contracts (cloud, on prem, desktop, SAAS, etc.) and their related maintenance agreements and licensing models. This role is responsible to comply with ITAM strategies/policies, stakeholder expectations, service delivery targets and priority of improvement initiatives and be able to manage expectations by meeting service delivery targets, performance initiatives and delivering quality results. Must continually work within the guidelines of the ITAM practice and assist in creating and implementing a global methodology for software asset procurement and license management.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Tracks, monitors, and updates software asset records to ensure compliance with vendor contracts – including focus on SAP, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, VMWARE, ServiceNow.

• Facilitates and processes software maintenance renewals or true-ups (including negotiations) for key vendor contracts – working with procurement and software owners, and senior management done via SAP and Ariba

• Monitors and captures software usage and counts within the licensing management system – ServiceNow.

• Provide leadership and take accountability to execute projects successfully and to support stakeholders in contract negotiations, spend optimization, audit and risk mitigation;

• Audit and maintain accurate data in Ariba and ServiceNow SAM module and work with vendors to assist with the same;

• Proactively identify overall efficiency enhancement, risk reduction, license compliance and cost saving opportunities;

• Efficiently manage software requests by redeploying surplus (shelfware) where possible, responsible for the day-to-day operational activities and act as the primary contact for internal clients;

• Manage renewal of server certificates;

• Develop, monitor, maintain, and report on the software budget, actual spend, variance, and forecast – working with both IS and Corporate Finance;

  POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Strong experience in Software IT Asset Management.

• Understanding of Software Licensing for Server, Cloud and Desktop Software environments;

• Proven ability to review and understand software licensing documents (Cloud, SaaS, Virtualized, etc)

• Strong knowledge and experience with software discovery inventory tools and collection methods – ServiceNow, IBM (ILMT), vendor audit scripts, etc

• Effective in influencing asset management practices and adapting to evolving software procurement processes.

  NICE TO HAVE

• Certified ServiceNow Software Asset Management (SAM) Professional; or working towards the same

• Financial reporting understanding, OPEX vs CAPEX, accruals, prepays, etc.
