Canadian Tire Corporation Looking for Associate Vice President, Merch Executive Integration at Toronto, Ontario, Canada Full Time

The AVP of Merchandising Integration is responsible for driving best in class planning and execution of Merchandising’s strategic priorities, as well as leading key reporting and communications across the teams. This dynamic role evolves as necessary as market conditions change and new priorities are identified. The successful candidate will need to be highly effective at working across the organization to optimize cross-functional collaboration and will be adept at simplifying the complex to create sustainable solutions.

Reporting to the SVP, General Merchandising you will be a key member of the Merchandising leadership team, inputting into strategic direction while providing guidance to the broader team in terms of execution of plans that drive strategic priorities and deliver business results. A dotted line relationship will exist to the SVP, Automotive and SVP, Merch Planning (where indicated) to support the integration of initiatives that impact all of CTR.

• Lead the execution of broadly defined and in some cases unstructured projects on behalf of the SVP of General Merchandising and SVP of Automotive, acting as a trusted advisor and integrator for key Merchandising priorities.
• Proactively plan for upcoming calendar commitments and ensure SVP / impacted stakeholders are prepared accordingly.
• Develop operating plans and measurement, gain alignment, and drive the strategic planning process linked to the growth plans.
• Lead annual and quarterly planning activities inclusive of building blocks, financials and timelines.
• Work with the Merchandising leadership team translate strategic priorities into annual operational plans for seamless in-year execution.
• Cultivate strong relationships and work closely with cross-functional teams, external vendors, and consultants to promote and execute the strategic plans.
• Facilitate VP and AVP team meetings for continuous progress and integration of Merchandising’s strategic agenda; identify and recommend people, process solutions with accompanying resource support as required (i.e. process development, change management)

Support the SVP Gen Merch, SVP Automotive and SVP Merch Planning:

• Build plans to address opportunities emerging from E-voice and DIB surveys to improve our working environment.
• Provide weekly, quarterly and ad hoc reporting, analysis and input to financial storyline to help prepare CTR’s SLT for investor calls, and quarterly board documentation where required.
• Lead the development of Merchandising’s internal and external presentations and communications (i.e. forums, town halls, dealer presentations, products parade)

What You Bring

• 7-10 years experience in Merchandising, Strategic Planning, Consulting, Portfolio Management or related field
• University degree in business/marketing or related discipline
• Experience interfacing with all levels within an organization, including Senior Executives
• Strategic thinker, with the ability to connect the dots while also understanding how to operationalize strategic direction and prioritize to get things done.
• Proven ability in leading without authority, and inspiring cross functional groups around a compelling and clear vision.
• Excellent verbal, presentation, and written skills; ability to communicate complex ideas in an executive format and use art and science to tell a compelling story.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities; can see a problem from multiple angles and provide viable, innovative options for resolution.
• Willingness to be in the office with the SVP’s, which will vary from 2-4 days per week depending on what activities are happening and our business cycle.
