Nature and Scope of Work
The School of Tourism Management is looking for a tourism management professional to teach TOUR 307- Tourism & Climate Change. This summer course is part of our Post Baccalaureate in Global Hospitality & Tourism diploma which is an international student program.
In this course, students will explore the climate change challenge facing the global tourism industry. They will examine key trends and issues impacting the industry; discuss technological and policy solutions for addressing this challenge; and evaluate some initiatives undertaken by industry to be in front of this crucial issue. Students will also learn to be an agent for change in meeting the climate change challenge.
Course outline and access to materials is provided and it is expected that the instructor continue to build the course including meetings with faculty who teach complementary courses to ensure progression of student learning.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Qualifications
Required:
Masters in Tourism Management, Business, Arts, Humanities, or Sciences in related fields
Preferred:
PhD in Tourism Management, Business, Arts, Humanities, or Sciences in related fields
Relevant adult education training and/or qualifications such as the:
Provincial Instructors Diploma
Instructional Skills Workshops
Competencies & Experience
Required:
The ability to engage students through a combination of theoretical content based and applied teaching methods
Comprehensive knowledge of climate change and Tourism
Applied practical experience in the related field
The capacity to integrate Tourism and Climate Change issues & themes within the context of tourism management studies.
Preferred:
Teaching experience at the post-secondary level
Publication(s) on relevant topic(s) or in related field(s)
