As a member of the Indigenous Education and Affairs (IEA) team, you will be instrumental in helping Indigenous students succeed at Capilano University by supporting and facilitating the effective and efficient delivery of IEA’s student-facing events and cultural programs.
The Project Assistant works closely and collaboratively with a wide range of service providers and partners, both internally and externally. To be success the roles requires you exercise independent judgment to implement, coordinate and execute multiple projects simultaneously. You will work with the talented team at Indigenous Student Services, an engaged community and an impactful executive team.

What you’ll do
Works collaboratively with members of IEA, MDX, Student Success and other areas to
determine project requirements.
Maps out project deliverables, schedule and budget
Creates annual calendar and project map for IEA events, cultural programs, and workshops.
Executes project responsibilities, as assigned in the project plan.
Ensures assigned project timelines are adhered to by tracking progress of tasks and
responsibilities of the people involved within the project, follows up when required and
escalates issues as necessary.
Represents IEA on large project planning committees such as Truth and Reconciliation
Week
Maintains and reconciles projects’ budgets. Utilizes judgment to track spending and flags
concerns in advance for the Director,
Writes, edits and as requested publishes information on the Capilano University website,
social media channels and intranet.
Arranges special events and ceremonies, including invitation lists, venue booking,
catering, room set-up including liaising with presenters, vendors, departments and
Facilities to ensure room set-up and audio visual equipment meet their needs.
What you’ll bring
Completion of grade 12 or equivalent supplemented by course or training in project
management.
Three years of directly related work experience in communications, marketing, or event
management. Experience must include project management/planning.
