Job Description
ECO Canada is looking for a project analyst with knowledge and experience in GHG management projects to join the Professional Services team.
Reporting to the Sr. Project Manager, the successful candidate will support the continued success of ECO Canada’s ongoing programs, while supporting the development and delivery of new projects. This person will be responsible for data collection, analysis, and calculations of greenhouse gas emissions. This role will also contribute to the research and development of resources, emission reduction strategies, and training.
The role requires priority management and organizational skills to ensure multiple activities can be balanced and executed simultaneously. In addition, this candidate will be responsible for liaising with a variety of stakeholders and coordinating joint activities both internally and externally.
While each member of ECO Canada has individual responsibilities, we take a team-based approach. Everyone is encouraged to develop and take ownership of their ideas and to see them through from concept development to completion, collaborating with key stakeholders as required. Responsibilities
- Providing technical assistance in areas of GHG reduction.
- Collecting GHG data, calculating GHG emissions, and completing recordkeeping and reporting.
- Conducting independent policy and technical research on a variety of climate change, GHG management, and other general environmental issues.
- Assisting in the development, implementation, and monitoring of assigned environmental programs and projects.
- Performing technical and administrative duties in the execution of program activities.
- Working with team members and other departments to prepare materials for busines proposals.
- Coordinating ongoing projects within scope, budget, and schedule, ensuring high-quality standards on project deliverables.
- Supporting the research, writing, editing, formatting, and proofreading of technical documents for reports, proposals, and concept papers.
- Exploring and developing new concepts and business opportunities.
- Outreach to external stakeholders.
- Maintaining a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward stakeholders at all times.
- Providing administrative support for the planning and execution of events and promotional activities.
- Developing and updating templates, procedural documents, and client-facing reports.
- Other program/project support, including networking and delivering presentations.
Qualifications and Education
- Graduate of a Post-Secondary Engineering or Environmental Science/Studies program (or similar degree).
- 3-5 years of experience in GHG-related projects including calculating and developing GHG inventories (Scope 1, 2, and 3) and quantifying GHG emissions.
- Knowledge of GHG emission quantification methodologies and electricity generation concepts.
- Knowledge of, and exposure to, provincial and federal environmental regulations, such as greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting, and programs.
- Proficient computer skills and experience with MS Office; including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Motivated self-starter with a strong desire to learn and a willingness to adapt to a variety of situations.
- Skilled at connecting with people and developing meaningful relationships.
- Demonstrated ability in technical writing, such as reports, proposals, etc.
- Ability to manage and coordinate multiple competing tasks and priorities.
- Exceptional organizational skills and high attention to detail.
- Excellent reading, writing, and editing skills.
- Ability to research, evaluate, and interpret data accurately and efficiently.
- Works well in a collaborative, team environment.
- Well-developed work ethic, capable of executing activities independently.
- Abreast with the latest environmental and sustainability topics.
- English proficient.
- Fluency in a second language is not required but is considered an asset.
This is a one-year contract position with a possibility for extension or full-term employment based on future funding and the employee’s performance. For applicants from Calgary, this position will offer a hybrid work opportunity with a minimum of three days from the office (subject to any change in ECO’s overall hybrid work policy). For applicants outside of Calgary, this will be a remote work position with occasional travel to Calgary and other project sites.
