Summary
CML sales representatives are the public face of the company and are responsible for developing & nurturing excellent relationships with customers on all aspects of lumber sales. The sales representative will report directly to General Manager, Chris Black.
Duties
· Develop and maintain excellent staff relationships and a positive and safe team environment in all aspects of work
· Provide exceptional service to customers in all areas of mill operations which includes, quotes, deliveries, cutting some orders, assisting with loading and selection of lumber orders while due to the start-up nature of the London operation the Sales Associate will be required to function in a wide range of roles which favours candidates who are open to learning and adapting to a variety of tasks. Over time new roles will be hired to build out the team.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills when relating to customers via in-person conversation, phone, and email
· Complete sales by handling cash transactions, using Point of Sale system and Quickbooks accounting software
· Manage customer orders by prioritizing and completing proper paperwork
· Maximize customer engagement by collecting contact info and contacting them directly
· Resolve customer complaints quickly while striving for 100% customer satisfaction
· Communicate with office and yard staff regularly to coordinate shop orders
· Monitor inventory levels, notify General Manager when material needs to be re-ordered
· As with other positions at CML, Sales Associates may at times be assigned other duties as needed to complement the overall team
Experience and Qualifications
· Prior experience in woodworking and the lumber industry with superior product knowledge is an asset
· Experience with customer relations and sales is an asset
· Candidate should be a self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset
· Experience operating Point of Sale systems and basic computer proficiency is required
· Must have the ability to prioritize tasks, especially during times of peak activity
· Ability to stand, bend, and lift material throughout the work day
· Postsecondary education is preferred
Training
· Successful candidates will spend up to two weeks at the Stouffville head office Mill to learn the role and meet colleagues who will interact and support the London operations
