A Team Mentor is responsible for the operation and direction of their programs. The principle responsibilities include: maintaining a high quality environment, assessing the performance of and guiding the professional development of each member of the team educating the team in the various curriculum models supported by the centre, maintaining open and honest lines of communication between parents and team members and always exemplifying professionalism. This should all be done in accordance with the vision, brand and culture of Childventures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working in collaboration with the Director and team members, the Team Mentor will utilize standard environment evaluation tools as well as Childventures evaluation tools to ensure a high-quality environment. Interacts with Ministry staff and other regulators around licensing requirements for inspection purposes.
Follows the centre’s Quality Assurance Cycle when using program evaluation tools
The team mentor will ensure that the team members assess and foster the individual needs of every child and provide a safe and caring environment. Provides positive social experiences.
The team mentor will role model a positive attitude while being a contributing member of the team. He/she will be respectful of the uniqueness of others and implement strategies for effective communication and teamwork.
Facilitates and understanding of a variety of cultures and value systems
Provides a physically safe and emotionally supportive environment
The team mentor will demonstrate a professional work attitude and positive work ethics while on the job and in the community. He/she will act as a role model for team members, parents and children. He/she will remain current in professional development and will positively promote and represent Childventures in the community
The team mentor will adhere to health and safety regulations according to the Public Health Board and the Child Care Early Years Act. He/she will always ensure that the environment for the children and team members is healthy and safe.
The team mentor will develop and educate team members in all curriculum models used within the centre.
Actively participates in required training sessions within Childventures curriculum and community sponsored professional development
Ensure the team members are providing age-appropriate programs to enhance the children’s cognitive, physical, social and emotional development.
Ensure the team members are completing daily observations
Regular review of child record maintenance
QUALIFICATIONS:
RECE, ECA, or CYW
Experience in early years education
Understanding of the CCEYA requirements and regulations
Experience in multiple age groups considered an asset
Exceptional interpersonal and relationship skills with the ability to work effectively with team members
