What You’ll Be Doing
The Sr. Director, EWC and Global Regulatory Affairs is a comprehensive leader responsible for providing highly specialized strategic advisory services, independent oversight and guidance on regulatory requirements and compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations. The role adaptively provides new solutions to achieve results to identify, reduce and manage regulatory and reputational risk, reporting significant compliance to senior leadership, as appropriate. The Senior Director, Compliance manages financial and people resources across all areas of influence to develop, communicate and maintain CIBC’s regulatory compliance framework that aligns with regulatory requirements, and assists CIBC to manage and mitigate the regulatory compliance risk. The role provides leadership regarding the development of risk assessment methodologies, policies and procedures, staff development, and the annual compliance plan. The role leads in the development of innovative methods, techniques and evaluation criteria to achieve broad objectives.
As a Sr. Director, EWC and Global Regulatory Affairs, in the Compliance Team, you will report directly to the VP, Enterprise-wide Compliance & Global Regulatory Affairs and will play a key role in supporting their mandate to prepare senior management, executive and Board reports generated on behalf of the CCO. You will oversee the global Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) Program and provide leadership and support regarding the development of risk assessment methodologies, global Compliance-owned policies and procedures, and the Annual Compliance Plan. Your mandate will also include overseeing the effective design and operation of the global Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption (ABAC) program.
How You’ll Succeed
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert: You and your team will respond to questions from and provide advice to other Compliance groups and CIBC employees, regarding the application of global Compliance-owned policies and procedures.
- Provide Strategic Advice: Lead team in conducting research and develop recommendations concerning emerging compliance industry practices to be implemented by CIBC and, where appropriate, work with the VP, EWC & GRA, and other CIBC employees to ensure global Compliance-owned policies are effectively and efficiently updated, communicated and implemented within the organization. You will ensure the team is providing strategic advisory services and specialized expertise related to RCM practices globally for CIBC.
- Build Key Relationships: Actively participate in Compliance industry associations and developing and maintaining relationships with peers within CIBC and at comparable financial institutions in order to stay abreast of EWC industry developments.
- Strong Leadership: You will lead the design and preparation of CCO’s management and Board reports and planning documents such as the Annual Compliance Plan. Provide senior leadership for CIBC’s RCM Program, ABAC Program and other Compliance initiatives. Work with the Director RCM Program to identify opportunities for improvements to RCM policies, procedures, methodologies, guidelines, and practices.
