Travel Requirements: Yes – First Nations Communities Manitoba & Ontario, Mining and Agricultural sites across Canada. If there are slow periods work will be in Beausejour helping as a lead hand
Normal Shifts
14 days on and 7 days off, up North – First Nation Communities in Manitoba and Ontario as well as Mining and Agricultural Projects across Canada, 10 to 12 – hour shifts, overtime after 10 hours per day or 40 / hrs per week whichever is greater.
Project Size & Expectation
The role will vary depending on the size of the project. Larger scale projects will have as many as 5 carpenters on the job and requirements to be on the tools will be limited, acting as a full superintendent. Projects on a smaller scale could have as few as 1 employee and on these jobs the role will be expected to complete any work on tools required to finish the job.

Overview Of Position
Superintendent, Special Projects oversees the construction process and are responsible for the overall construction activities within the established design, budget, and scheduling guidelines. This can include planning and scheduling, organizing, directing, and controlling activities on the construction site.
The Superintendent will spend most of their time on the construction site and safety is a top priority. While on the construction site, the Superintendent must be aware of and comply with all relevant safety policies and procedures.
The Superintendent will attend job sites on First Nation Communities in Manitoba and Ontario as well as Mining and Agricultural Projects across Canada, shifts are typically 14 days on and 7 days off.
Key Responsibilities
Work with the pre-construction team on-site at Cobras new Beausejour head office to create pre-construction budgeting and planning.
Once project is started, complete on-site supervision and coordination of Cobra in-house trades and sub-contractors.
With a collaborative style, coordinate and supervise all construction activities on site.
Ensure project is constructed according to drawings, specifications, project schedule, and budget.
Partner with management team, including the Project Manager and subcontractors to maintain construction schedule and identify/resolve problems as necessary and in a timely manner.
Establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including community develop recovery strategies when project schedule or budgets are in jeopardy.
Review and update schedule, cost forecast and cash flow with Project Manager.
Maintain appropriate field documentation including safety, progress reports, rental records, logs etc.
Be a leader in safety by providing leadership to peers ensuring all site staff are always adhering to the company safety culture, following appropriate policies and procedures.
Conduct daily tailgate meetings
Organize weekly subcontractor meetings.
Supervise, mentor, coach, and train project personnel.

Preferred Qualifications
Extensive practicing knowledge of construction safety, regulations, legislation, and policy.
Technical diploma or equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
At least 5+ years previous experience working on commercial and residential building sites. Pre Eng. Building experience considered an asset.
Supervisory and construction experience in commercial renovation projects up to $10M.
Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction such as; technology, equipment, methods, trade agreements and jurisdiction, engineering, cost control, drawings, specifications, procedures, scheduling, and safety requirements.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, MS projects, share point, MS Dynamics is an asset.
Other Qualifications
Proven creative problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to successfully translate technical information to non-technical individuals.
Excellent relationship building skills, with strong focus on client relationship, and a proven track record of integrity when dealing with Clients, Trades and Consultants.
Experience working with First Nations Communities, Mining, and Agriculture projects will be considered an asset.
Work Conditions
Travel is required, ability to lift 50+ lbs, required safety equipment, hazards associated with the trade, work both indoors and outdoors, construction sites, noise, irregular hours & overtime, shifts 14 days on and 7 days off, 10 to 12-hour shifts, heights, no ability to work remotely.
