What Does a Human Resources Business Partner Do?
The Miller Group is currently looking for an HR Business Partner (HRBP) to cover an 18 month maternity leave. Our HRBP will provide broad HR support to assigned business groups within Miller. Partnering with business leaders and managers, the HRBP will develop people solutions that help support the achievement of the business group strategy, while ensuring alignment with corporate HR objectives. They will work with employees and all levels of management within their assigned area to proactively facilitate appropriate outcomes on people related matters. To be effective in developing tailored solutions, they will be required to build trusting relationships with employees, managers and leaders of that business and work to understand operational goals.
As a Human Resources Business Partner, Your Role Will Include:
Talent Management
In collaboration with the Talent Management team, ensure that the organization has the right talent on board at the right time, driving a positive candidate experience and an effective onboarding process. Facilitate development activities to allow employees to achieve their optimal development potential. Working with business leaders to develop a robust succession plan that addresses future talent needs and identifies high potential talent and proactively drive the development of high potential talent.
This includes:
Workforce Planning
Talent attraction, Recruitment, and Selection
Onboarding
Employee development – Ensure Miller policies and practices on performance management are adhered to. This includes:
Performance reviews and midyear check-ins and goal setting
Performance improvement plans (PIP)
Succession planning
Individual Development Plans (IDP)
Labour/Employee Relations
In consultation with the internal Labour Relations Specialist act as a liaison between staff and management, bridging gaps through various forms of intervention, including problem-solving, mediation, training and coaching. Providing balanced advocacy to management and employees to protect their respective rights and facilitate a harmonious work environment. Note that a small percentage of the workforce of the assigned business unit is unionized.
Change Management
Champion company change initiatives by supporting and increasing awareness of desired outcomes. Identify change leaders to assist in fostering positive corporate culture. Coach managers and employees to enable them to navigate through change.
Corporate Governance
As the subject matter expert, ensure consistent adherence to corporate and legislated policies by providing education and guidance to staff and management to mitigate risk to the organization.
What You’ll Bring:
A degree or diploma in Business Administration and/or a Human Resources related discipline. CHRP/CHRL designation would be considered an asset
7+ years of relevant Human Resources experience with at least 5 years in a senior HR generalist capacity
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and experience with HRIS
Ability to influence, establish rapport and work with a diverse group of senior managers and staff within a variety of businesses, as well as with management and staff in business unit head offices and corporate office
Proven experience working with both structured and unstructured organizations and matrixed environments
High energy, a strong work ethic, resiliency, versatility and flexibility with a results orientation
Knowledge and experience with Labor relations, employment standards and human rights legislation
Ability to travel within Ontario
Valid drivers’ license and car to effectively support the travel requirements of the job
