JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Logistics & Customs Compliance Specialist
PAY GRADE: $60,000.00-$68,000/year
DEPARTMENT: Contracts (600)
REPORTS TO: Contracts Manager
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and direct logistic processes and establish ongoing improvement plans for freight management, vendor routing, and carrier management.
Develop, implement, and monitor performance metrics for transportation, shipping and receiving.
Create, monitor, and report on weekly and monthly logistics key performance indicators.
Collaborate with purchasing departments in request for proposal (RFP), and request for quote (RFQ) processes.
Work with the production control, purchasing and other personnel to minimize shortages and improve inventory holdings.
Manage courier/carrier implementations and establish service level agreements to ensure services are delivered as promised.
Deal with imports and exports shipped to and from the company; work with customs officials to ensure compliance.
Conduct fleet management on company vehicles as necessary.
Colt Canada expert for trade compliance matters, including both export and import compliance
Develop and implement local procedures in compliance with Government / Federal compliance
Develop and maintain thorough and current knowledge of international trade compliance regulations applicable to the business activities of Colt Canada
Work with management to identify transactions and their associated program timelines / elements
Advise personnel on required times to obtain any required authorizations and ensure program delivery commitments include sufficient lead times
Review all transactions to determine licensing requirements and the applicability of any available license exemptions or exceptions
Develop and prepare complete, professional, and timely export authorization applications for review and submission
Keep records and report activities relating to trade compliance
Review shipping documentation to ensure compliance
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Obtain Enhanced Security Clearance from the Government of Canada
Maintenance of secure and confidential company information
Adherence to Colt Canada Corporation’s policies and procedures
QUALIFICATIONS:
Post Secondary education in related field
2-5 years’ experience in international trade compliance
2-5 years of direct work experience in a logistics and/or transport function, or supply chain management.
Experience in managing third-party logistics providers.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
Strong presentation, written, and verbal skills
Able to interact effectively with management, the public and staff
Understanding of the industry and area of service
Able to create realistic schedules and meet deadlines under stress and interruptions
Expert understanding of trade compliance software, database and information systems
Computer literacy, including effective working skills of ERP systems, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe products and e-mail required
Ability to follow through and complete overlapping projects

Internal – all internal departments and employees
External – Customers, Vendors/Suppliers, Government Agencies, Auditors, Brokers
WORKING ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH & SAFETY ISSUES, CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Office environment – Use of computer, keyboarding, sitting, analysis, attention to detail
Manufacturing Environment (PPE Required) – lifting to 20lbs occasionally, 50/50 sitting/standing, moderate/loud work environment
Must have valid driver’s license
Ability to travel, local, national, international
