Apprentice Automotive Service Technician Job Description
The Core Objective of the Apprentice Automotive Technician is to support the fixed operations initiatives of the Company of Cars team and its’ customers. The Apprentice Automotive Service Technician’s ability to diagnose, repair and maintain current inventory and previously sold inventory alike, is key to our organization’s ongoing success. Technicians will leverage the ability of all team members to provide stellar customer service to current clients and maintain relationships with past clients and referral sources. Attention to detail along with highly personalized service will continue to grow awareness of Company of Cars’ unique differentiators in the market.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide professional, positive and energetic support to the service manager and our clients
Support the team and clientele with any and all automotive technical functions required
Support the team in maintaining and reconditioning our inventory
Effective communication of diagnosis and troubleshooting to constantly improve positive relationships with current, past and prospective clients (team)
Take leadership to enhance efficiency, service
Personal Qualifications: All Technical Staff
Highly organized with the ability to get on task quickly and stay focused.
Excellent time management skills; the capacity to work unsupervised as well as be a team member
Must be able to think on their feet and make decisions that support customer service excellence.
Technology and systems savvy. Able to work with other team members to use technology and systems to help them work more effectively.
Strong attention to detail.
A passion for great customer service. Able to anticipate, understand, and respond to the needs of team members and clients to meet or exceed expectations.
Self-motivated. Work well independently and take charge of moving things forward without needing to be given direction on every detail.
A valid driver’s license (and access to a vehicle when needed)
Primary Duties: Apprentice Technician
Keep tools, work areas and equipment fully serviceable for use on inspecting and testing vehicles; completing simple maintenance such as, engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters.
Maintain vehicle in functional condition by listening to operator complaints; conducting inspections;
Verify vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.
Maintain vehicle records by recording service and repairs.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Communicate on a regular basis with the Service Manager regarding any changes in work status or completion status of vehicle
