About the Opportunity:
As the Assistant Controller at Conexiom, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the finance department’s day-to-day operations. You will work closely with the Controller and other team members to ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial data. We are looking for an individual who is not only well-versed in financial principles but also possesses a curious mindset, exceptional attention to detail, and a passion for problem-solving.
Responsibilities:
- Leadership – As a seasoned leader, you will support, mentor, and oversee the payroll and accounts payable team.
- Financial Reporting – Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Month-End Close –Complete the month-end close process, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and team working paper reviews, while ensuring a monthly close within 8 business days.
- Payroll Management – Oversee the payroll function, ensuring that employee compensation is processed accurately and on time. Also, ensuring that all regulatory compliance is met in various jurisdictions.
- Accounts Payable – Oversee the accounts payable function, including administration of Airbase (the expense management system), timely vendor payment run each week, accruals process, and GL entry.
- Taxation – Manage the sales tax process, including all reconciliations and remittances in all jurisdictions and administration of Avalara to ensure correct sales tax application, product, and state setup.
- Commissions – Prepare capitalized commissions calculations and understanding of the related accounting standard.
- Audit support – Collaborate with external auditors during financial audits and assist in the preparation of audit schedules and documentation.
- Accounting Standards – Management of company leases per ASC 842, including maintenance of lease files, ability to apply the standard as necessary, entry into GL, and policy updates.
- General Ledger Management – Maintain and reconcile the general ledger and chart of accounts.
- Process Improvement – Identify opportunities for process improvements within the finance department and contribute to the implementation of best practices.
- Ad hoc projects – Assist with special projects, financial analysis, and research initiatives as needed.
Skills and Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with exposure to SaaS or technology companies preferred.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage Intacct, NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to think critically and solve complex problems.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Curiosity and a desire to continuously learn and improve.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and meet deadlines.
- Able to hold themselves and their team accountable for their deliverables and the quality of their work.
- Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Able to exercise judgment in your work and various scenarios.
