Human Resources Advisor
Reporting to either the HR manager or CEO an HR advisor is the first port of call for the day-to-day functioning of the HR department, taking an advisory role on best practices for recruitment and retention of staff as well as general HR services.
Specifically, the HR Advisor provides support in such areas as recruitment, job evaluation, job description, employee orientation, onboarding process, performance management, reorganization and layoffs, employment practices and legislation, and the interpretation and application of staff policies and collective agreements referring more complex issues to the Senior HR.
Overall, the HR advisor is responsible for anything to do with HR, ensuring all policies are consistent and that all HR queries are dealt with promptly and reliably.
Responsibilities:
· Support the full life-cycle recruitment process, including job advertisements postings on social media platforms, screening applicants’ forms and resumes, scheduling and conducting interviews, collecting reference and background checks;
· Act as a point of contact for the candidate for updates, feedback, and queries during the recruitment process.
· Manage the implementation of HR initiatives in support of Human Resources’ long and short-term strategies and organization goals;
· Facilitate and deliver new hire orientation, online and in-person training, ensure compliance of all mandatory trainings within deadlines;
· Manage staff relationships, responding to any queries or problems that they have, and managing their expectations;
· Maintain knowledge in Labour Relations, Employment Laws, and Regulations affecting HR functions and policies;
· Handle HR matters reliably and in accordance with legal requirements;
· Support HR Manager with various investigations, grievances, and disciplinary procedures;
· Participate in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures;
· Assist with all internal and external HR-related inquiries or requests;
· Maintain both hard and digital copies of employees’ records;
· Prepare, track and maintains required HR statistics, including regular and ad hoc HR reports;
· Supports tracking, monitoring, and providing other related support to the HR manager and payroll supervisor in the management of Leaves of Absences;
· Ensures accurate employee files and records are maintained in accordance with applicable laws and requirements;
· Support other assigned duties and projects.
Required Qualifications:
· Post-Secondary Education or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, or other acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience;
· Human Resources Professional Association (HRPA) membership; or willingness to obtain within 6 months from the date of hire;
· Completion or working towards Certificate of Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation; to be completed within 3 years of hire;
· Minimum 2-3 years of HR experience, preferably in a unionized environment, including experience in recruitment and selection, job evaluation, HR policies interpretation, and application;
· Experience with employee relations matters;
· Proficient with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.), and experience using HRIS Software – Dayforce preferred;
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
· Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize work, meet deadlines, and be detail-oriented and accurate in a fast-paced environment;
· Ability to build positive, efficient relationships with managers and employees at every level;
· Experience working independently and as a part of a team;
· Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality in the workplace;
· Ability to speak and understand Polish is an asset;
· A police reference check for the vulnerable sector, not older than 6 months, is a condition of employment.
