What to expect:
The Communications Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily communications functions that support strategic priorities and ongoing operations in Government Relations. This position will develop government relations strategies and tactics specifically targeted to key external and internal stakeholders across all media platforms. This position will work directly with the Government Relations teams as well as co-investors, stakeholders and CWB Group Marketing and Communications partners and other CWB business units.
This includes:
Communications development and execution
Preparing, implementing and evaluating government relations communications plans and projects by identifying emerging issues
Monitoring the online communications landscape and provide strategic communications recommendations
Build effective relationships across the Corporation and with three level of government, elected officials and senior bureaucrats
Research and develop articles, presentation materials, statements and background documents targeting government officials
Develop and produce a wide range of high-quality communications products including social media content, newsletter content, video, print, display and other information materials targeting government and building officials
Media monitoring – In collaboration with Marketing department, coordinate responses to local media enquiries, monitor and analyze media coverage in order to track community concerns and interests
Support crisis communications programs by having a key role in internal and external communications activities.
Act as key media spokesperson and draft media materials as required
Media Relations
Media event planning
Media crisis and issues communications
Develop media materials, speaking notes and key messages
Support the CWB Group social media accounts, including developing and analyzing social media messages and multi-media content and analyzing social media strategies that are specific to government activities
Support Group wide presentations, including developing promotional materials, advertisements, newsletters and publications targeting building and elected officials
Develop and/or support the development of proprietary communications material such as stock presentations, library of past projects, Q&A for each entity (Association, Foundation, Industry Services etc.) program brochures, educational and program materials and any materials that reach media and other external audiences.
In this position, you will report to the Director, Government Relations and will be working remotely from your home office in Canada. CWB has adopted a remote-first working model, where employees will work from their home office, servicing the client within their specified areas either remotely or in person. We are embracing radical flexibility, where employees are encouraged to work a schedule that works best for them, their team, and their clients.
What you bring to the table:
University degree Communications, Journalism or relevant field OR a combination of education and experience
5-7 years relevant work experience
Communications and or public relations with experience in a not-for-profit setting
Understanding of best practices and emerging trends in strategic communications, issues management, internal communications and media relations
Demonstrated writing skills at a high level
Demonstrated success in the development and implementation of strategic marketing and communication plans, campaigns, projects and initiatives
Knowledge of Canadian news media landscape
Experience creating campaigns and messaging for social media platforms.
Comfort with reporting and presenting to senior leaders
Extraordinarily creative and innovative mind coupled with a highly effective communication style and persuasive abilities
Ability to work independently and on various tasks simultaneously
Demonstrated experience in overseeing tasks of others and to work with others on a job to achieve the best results
Must be highly motivated, self-directed and able to work in a fast-paced environment
Excellent time-management and organizational skills. Flexibility with changing priorities, and the ability to remain focused on meeting targeted timelines
Proficient in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point
Valid Driver’s License and access to a vehicle
This is a remote, work from home position
Travel might be required from time to time
Full Vaccination against Covid-19 or an accepted medical or human right exception is required as a condition of employment with the CWB Group. Successful candidates in our hiring process will be required to produce supporting documentation at the time of offer.

Bilingualism in English and French is an asset
Ability to use the Adobe suite of products, especially InDesign and Photoshop, and other tools to create and edit collateral materials when needed is considered an asset
