Job Summary & Key Responsibilities
This Part-Time Academic will be fully responsible for the teaching and grading of one section of THEA 2022.03 Jazz Dance 1b, from June 2 to 23, 2022. This is a continuation of THEA 2021.03 Jazz Dance 1a. This course is a practical exploration into the specifics of Jazz Dance technique, incorporating the use of space, rhythm, and correct body alignment, as well as flexibility and strength. Emphasis is on the development of personal expression through the medium of dance. Students are expected to develop an awareness of dance terminology and the appreciation of movement as a practice. The instructor is required to provide a Method of Assessment and to announce end of term student ratings/evaluations of instruction.
This position reports to the Director of the Fountain School of Performing Arts.

Qualifications/Requirements of Position
Bachelor of Arts or equivalent degree, including the following qualifications are required for this position: (1) specialization in jazz dance and stage dance movement, covering technical basics in Mattox and Simonsen jazz dance movement and musical theatre; (2) ability to instruct students with diverse dance-training backgrounds, new movers, and broad levels of musicality, dexterity, and coordination; (3) teaching experience at the post-secondary level; (4) evidence of strong teaching effectiveness.
Salary Range/Pay Rate Per CUPE Collective Agreement
