Job Description

• The Financial Specialist is an office-based role in Vancouver, BC, Canada

The purpose of the Financial Specialist is to provide finance, tax and governance support for Group Discovery and Geosciences (GDG) – North America

Responsible for full-cycle accounting including timely monthly and annual financial close

Responsible for compliance with statutory and/or government filing requirements applicable to GDG activities at the provincial, state, and federal levels in North America

Responsible for preparation, cost management, and ongoing monitoring of annual financial plan for GDG – North America

Responsible for monthly reporting of financial expenditures against budget and forecast for the Project Support Manager and Discovery Manager – North America, with analysis of variances including advising surpluses generated, need for additional funding and/or requesting internal reallocations as required

Qualifications

• University degree level education

Recognised professional accounting qualification (CPA or equivalent)

Role Specific Knowledge

Experience across broad range of financial activities and accounting experience including financial reporting and budgeting

Proven relevant experience in a multinational corporation is desirable

Prior relevant experience in the mining or resources sector is an asset

High-level of proficiency in the use of Microsoft packages

Experience with Accpac ERP system and/or SAP are advantageous but not essential
