What is the Policy Officer Recruitment Programme (PORP)?
The PORP is a three-year on-the-job professional development programme designed to recruit and develop talented individuals to meet the unique demands of the defence policy environment and become well-rounded public servants. In addition to three one-year assignments across the Policy Group, a practical, three-year curriculum will round-out your academic experience and help you hone your skills in areas like writing in a professional context, strategic thinking, and negotiation skills.

Intent of the process
The objective of this process is to staff positions in the PORP on an indeterminate basis.
A pool of partially or essentially qualified candidates may be established through this process and may be used to staff identical or similar positions at the Department of National Defence.

Education
ED1: Graduation* with a Master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field related to the duties of the position**, and/or a Juris Doctor.

Degree equivalency
Experience
EX1: Experience researching, analyzing, and writing on subjects related to security and defence, international affairs or public policy.
