Designer Brands Looking for Import Logistics Traffic Coordinator – 12 Month Contract at Toronto, Ontario, Canada Full Time

Contract Duration: 12 Month Contract, to commence June 2024.

This is a remote work from home position. However, there may be a need to work onsite occasionally.

Position Overview:

Through daily communication with respective forwarders, truckers and Customs Brokers, this position will record and make available to DBI all information on product shipping from all off-shore origins to the Canada distribution center. Identify and solve potential problems that may arise with the delivery of any inbound shipment, circumventing any delays in the current flow of product into the warehouse. As instructed by leadership, cross-train and perform additional functions within the International Logistic Department, which the associate is trained and skilled to perform, in support of Company objectives.

Responsibilities:

• Track expedite and ensure that all bill of lading obtained from shipper in form of telex release or originals as required by L/C well in advance of cargo arrival in compliance with L/C banking and advanced customs clearance timing.
• Expediate cargo movement to avoid any/all delays in recovery of cargo delivery to the warehouses.
• Review shipping documents for completeness and accuracy of FOB price and Free Trade Agreement status, coordinate Customs (CBSA) cargo release with the Customs Broker.
• Communicate with buying and finance to resolve invoice discrepancies.
• Route all US vendor imports from Origin city to the Canadian warehouse. Requests quotes from truckers, setup pick-ups, work with CBSA for clearance and confirm delivery.
• Disseminate and obtain approval shipment bookings outside of ship windows.
• Responsible for accurate preparation and distribution of In-Transit Report including adjusting timeline and expected dates as needed.
• Coordinate/ communicate with warehouse operations delivery of inbound freight.
• Review freight costs against vendors monthly rate sheet for accuracy.
• Confirm prices and advise updated freight and duty costs for landed cost codes.
• Understand shipping tariffs and rate agreements. Have knowledge of international freight forwarding and ocean freight and carrier operations.
• Knowledge of Customs clearance processes for international shipping & trade documents and INCOTERMs terms.
• Knowledge of U.S. imports and free trade agreements and industry resources.
• Ability to review and accurately analysis transit time/lane data providing KPI reporting.

Requirements:

• Degree/Diploma in Logistics/Transportation is required
• 3-4 years of experience in an International Logistics/Traffic Coordinator position is required
• Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word and Outlook.
• Technically advanced in Excel
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong organization skills with a high level of detail
• Ability to work independently but can work well within a team environment
• Ability to manage, prioritize and meet deadlines
