DXP Canada is looking for a two (2) Human Resources Generalist that will provide a wide range of HR functions and support to managers and employees for its Canadian Operations of HSE, Natpro and IPS. Key areas of responsibilities are employee relations, performance management, conflict resolution and other employee services and projects.
Duties/Responsibilities for this position are (but not limited to):
- Support managers and employees in the Human Resources areas of policies, procedures, laws, standards, and regulations
- Manage and monitor performance-related issues and implement changes that could increase productivity and/or promote positive employee relations.
- Implement, administer and update policies and procedures to meet business needs and standards.
- Build and maintain close relationships with employees, managers, and stakeholders to provide day-to-day support and guidance with the ability to quickly respond to operational HR needs.
- Daily participation and operational support of the full employment life cycle: responding to questions, interpreting policies, preparing documentation, and striving to resolve work-related issues with all stakeholders.
- Represent and ensure legal compliance with applicable provincial Employment Standard legislations, Human Rights including Service Canada claims by responding effectively to all complaints and inquires.
- Assist or lead HR investigations as required
- Compile statistical reports and metrics, as well as internal trends and tracking.
- Provide research as requested
- Provide support for a small grouping of employees represented by a Collective Agreement.
- Utilize HR data bases, computer software systems, and manual & electronic filing systems
- Cross functional support for other member of the HR/HS/Recruitment/Org Development team.
- Adhere to legislation such as the Human Rights Act and Employment Standards Act
- 20% travel expectation. May increase during busier periods of the year.
- Cross functional support of different groups within the greater HR Team
- Ad hoc support or as directed to East Canada Operations HR.
- Other duties may be assigned as required
Safety Responsibilities
- Do everything reasonable to ensure the health and safety of the workers under their supervision
- Ensure all workers under their direction are: adequately trained in the given task, knowledgeable of the equipment and effectively supervised throughout the job
- Maintain cyclical and as required safety tasks as directed by the health and safety program and jurisdictional health and safety legislation
- Regularly communicate with employees regarding occupational health and safety, observing performance for compliance to the program
- Immediately notify and liaise with the Health and safety department regarding OH&S visits, inspection or inquiries and health or safety related incidents.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum three (3) years of work experience in Operations focused HR required
- Demonstrated multi-disciplinary HR experience in an operations focused setting preferred.
- HR Leadership experience gained through roles with progressively increasing responsibility preferred.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Proven ability to build effective workplace relationships and maintain them through tactful, diplomatic, and professional interactions.
- Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
- Computer literacy, including excellent working skills of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and e-mail required
- Excellent time and project management skills, while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong problem identification and resolution skills
- Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures
- Proven conflict resolution and negotiation skills
- Experience in the Oil & Gas or Health & Safety industries preferred
Required Certifications & Training
- Post-Secondary diploma in Human Resources Management
- CPHR designation would be an asset
