Embassy Ingredients Ltd Looking for R&D Bakery Technologist at Brampton, Ontario, Canada Full Time

As an R&D Bakery Technologist you will play a key role in our Research and Development Team, contributing to the creation of new and exciting bakery production. Your responsibilities will include experimenting with new ingredients, developing recipes and ensuring that our bakery mixes not only meet but exceed customers’ expectations with flavour, texture, and quality.

Your Work Schedule- Monday to Friday during core business hours

Responsibilities of your role:

• Use a customized approach to develop innovative products and extend product lines to precisely align with customer needs while also building our internal library of products.
• Prepare bakery mix samples to showcase our products to new and growing customers.
• Use your creativity to bake delicious and innovative products for internal testing and presentations.
• Stay informed about industry trends and incorporate innovative ideas into your product development role.
• Able to match products while prioritizing visual appeal, flavour and texture provided by a potential or existing customer.
• Ensure precision in documenting project details, product formulas, and diligently prepare reports for different government grants.
• Evaluate new ingredients from suppliers to improve current products, explore cost-saving options and/or prepare for potential raw material shortages.
• Assist and collaborate with production and QA – you will be the subject matter expert.
• Provide technical field support during the initial production scale-up of mixes at the customer’s facility and provide ongoing assistance for existing products as needed.
• Maintain the lab inventory, refill R&D ingredients when required and maintain a clean and organized workstation.

What you need to bring to Embassy:

• Bachelor’s degree in food science or related field or equivalent industry experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in product development and/or food industry.
• Strong understanding of ingredient functionality and bakery processes.
• Travelling may be required to the US, Mexico or Europe.
• Ability to lift ingredients and equipment (20 KG) to a trolley height.
• Must be a team player who is professional, enthusiastic, and flexible.
• Strong understanding of Microsoft products, familiarity with Microsoft CRM Dynamics and Business Central is an asset.
• Outstanding problem solving and communication skills are essential for success in this role.
• Ability to manage work within tight timelines and pressure.
