About the role
The Payroll Administrator is responsible for supporting the Enkel payroll and delivery teams as it provides back-office services to our 300 clients. In this role, you will be an in-house Payroll Administrator, assisting the team in ensuring that it is accurately capturing and reporting payroll details for clients.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Payroll Lead in providing accurate and timely payroll processing to Enkel clients
- Data entry and validation of payroll information including time management and new hires
- Calculate adjustments and/or proper tax withholdings for extra payments including vacation, bonus payments, LOA’s, severance pay, etc.
- Staying up-to-date on employment standards and payroll tax changes, ensuring that Enkel is keeping its clients compliant with changes as they occur
- Completing WCB and EHT reporting and remittances for various provinces
- Completing Year End reconciliations and processing of T4s, T4As and RL-1s
- Supporting the implementation of payroll systems for new clients to migrate to Payworks
- Working closely with clients to ensure that payroll details are accurately captured and entered into the payroll system
- Ensuring that processes are in place to efficiently capture payroll data from clients
- Assist in designing and testing payroll solutions for clients to address specific payroll-related pain points
- Developing a deep understanding of Payworks tools such as Time & Attendance and Absence Management modules
- Other payroll initiatives and tasks as required from time to time
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of payroll experience is required
- Experience in processing payroll for multiple clients and various payroll frequencies (bi-weekly, semi-monthly and monthly) is considered an asset
- National Payroll Institute PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) Certification is required or PLP (Payroll Leadership Professional) designation is considered an asset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience working with cloud-based payroll and HRIS systems
- In depth understanding of government legislation, benefits contracts and collective agreements
- High attention to detail and strives for accuracy in any deliverables and auditable documentation
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and efficiently handle multiple deadlines
- Adept problem solver, who can independently troubleshoot systems or data issues and get to root causes and solutions
- Strong customer service skills and a desire to work closely with customers and internal teams
- Capable of discretely handling confidential information
