At ESCRYPT Waterloo, we are developing embedded software to be used across the globe, protecting millions of vehicles. If you want to join an agile product development team at the forefront of cybersecurity technology, then this is the team for you. Reporting to the General Manager at our Waterloo site, you will have a key role in driving secure, quality, safe and state-of-the-art software development. This role will cover the full SDLC and will include technical support for stakeholders and customer projects.
As a Senior Embedded Software Developer at ESCRYPT Waterloo, you will be developing security solutions for emerging automotive hardware/software architectures. As a member of a talented and motivated team, you will make vital contributions to protecting the many powerful computers embedded in future state-of-the-art vehicles. We will combine our world-class security and automotive know-how alongside your expertise in embedded technologies to deliver solutions that stake out a leadership position in securing the car of the future.

Your Skills
You are an experienced and motivated professional with a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering or another related discipline. You have a proven track record of getting the job done. When you take on a task, you deliver. You work hard, but you also understand how to keep things in balance and have a good time. You love a challenge and you hate to give up. You treat the impossible as an invitation to try. Innovation is in your nature and you would not have it any other way. You never stop learning and trying new things.
You are a software developer at the top of your game. You design and build software for embedded systems that perform well and are easy to use. Your efforts and design decisions will be key to our product success.
Your Qualifications
- Strong programming experience (4+ years) with modern C++ (C++11) and object-oriented development
- Continuous and clear communication with highly developed teamwork skills are a must
- Proven ability to drive development through the full SDLC (requirements, design, testing, implementation, deployment, and maintenance)
- Proven ability to design with performance and resource constraints in mind
- Strong experience with embedded platforms, board bring-up and debugging
- Experience with ARM or other embedded processors
- Experience with Linux, BSD, QNX, or similar
- Experience creating unit tests, integration tests, system tests, and product tests
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum team
The following requirements are not a must, but are highly preferred:
- Good understanding of software security, cryptography, and public key infrastructure systems
- Experience working in the automotive domain
- Experience with the following: ASIL, ASPICE, Bitbucket, Confluence, CMake, Cryptographic Algorithms, git, ISO-26262, Jenkins, JIRA, Python, Ruby, Valgrind
