Job Description

Exploring Scholar is currently looking for a part-time English (ELA) classroom teacher to join our high-performing team. You will have the opportunity to deliver Grade 5-12 English literature topics through regularly scheduled semestered courses. This is not a tutoring position but rather a classroom teaching position as new topics are introduced within every lesson according to curriculum requirements. This is also not an ESL teaching position but rather an ELA teaching position. Applicants have the option to teach in-person or remote.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare lesson materials within guidelines.
  • Deliver high quality lessons to small classes of students.
  • Help promote students’ interests in the subject.
  • Mark homework and assessments.

Qualifications

· English literature reading comprehension and creative writing teaching experience AND/OR OCT certification with English as a teachable.

· Proven experiences designing lesson materials.

· Proficient in online teaching tools.

· Strong academic proficiency and confidence in teaching respective subjects.

· Personal or teaching experiences in AP, IB, A-Level, or other advanced high school curriculums is a strong asset (whenever applicable).

· Experiences with English literature contests and publishing is a strong asset.

· Have reliable availability for minimum 6hr/wk during the summer and 2hr/wk during the fall/spring semesters (see hours below).

Hours

  • Minimum 6 hours / week of teaching time during the summer semester, July 2 – August 10, 2022.
  • Minimum 2 hours / week of teaching time during evenings and weekends, for the fall-spring semester, September 2022 – June 2023. Ideal for working along other commitments.

Location: We provide options for working in-person at our bright, modern, and technology-driven facility is situated in 201 Consumers Rd, North York, ON, or working remotely through our premium Zoom account.
