About the role
As a Sr. DevOps Engineer, you have deep technical knowledge, with at least 5 years of experience in DevOps work in AWS, Containerized Workloads, GitOps, and Linux Systems administration.
You are a tinkerer and an engineer who uses ingenuity to solve hard problems. You also possess a security-focused mindset and approach everything with cybersecurity in mind. You are a developer first, systems administrator second.
At Financeit you will be joining the Devops team and be allowed to take ownership of our production system configuration and its security. You will be joining a high-flying team seeing enormous success in the market.

Location: Financeit headquarters in downtown Toronto (remote work available)
Hours: 9 – 5:00 PM EST – On call rotation 7 days a week
This position will report directly to the Director of IT and will work closely with everyone on the Financeit team.
Core Responsibilities
Technical Adviser role to the DevOps engineering team
Focus on the quality of DevOps solutions (i.e. help the team navigate away from brittle systems)
Focusing on Site Reliability and Scalability Initiatives
Designing and conducting system failover strategies
Focus on software deployment strategies and technologies (CI/CD) for better efficiency and resiliency of Financeit systems
Conduct research, tests, and execute new techniques to stay aligned with industry best practices and standards
Designing and developing scaling strategies, automation scripts, and solutions for Financeit infrastructure
Manage and administer EKS cluster and related QA infrastructure
Manage and optimize CI/CD pipelines to reduce build time
Cloud Infrastructure Management (AWS and GCP)
Infrastructure Monitoring – responding to system alerts and resolving them
Server Setup Configuration and Administration using AWS Cloudformation and/or Ansible, Terraform, Chef
MySQL and Postgresql Setup and Administration
Systems Security Audit and Systems Capacity Planning
Attend and participate in Cybersecurity Training sessions
Typical work activities
Support the development and QA teams with their test infrastructure
Creating internal tools and processes that will increase developer and QA productivity
Participate in infrastructure design discussions
Implement change requests
Respond to alerts or tickets concerning servers
Perform System Patches and Upgrades
Other tasks to be assigned from time to time
Requirements
Proficiency in containerization and running/managing containerized workloads on Kubernetes (EKS,GKE,OpenShift)
Expert knowledge of Ruby or similar scripting language
Comfortable writing bash scripts, as well as using any language to automate server related tasks
Proficiency with Terraform, AWS Cloudformation and Ansible (Chef or Puppet proficiency also a plus)
Proficiency with Amazon Code Deploy, Gitlab, Jenkins, and various CI/CD platforms
Minimum of 3 years experience with Systems Linux Administration
Experience managing modern firewalls like AWS Security Groups, WAF, Intrusion Detection
Expert level of experience (2-3 years) with Postgresql including replication, monitoring, and database server tuning
Excellent with all things related to databases including replication, monitoring, and database server tuning (i.e. MySQL, Postgres, Elasticsearch, Redis,)
Experience with GitOps and related tools like ArgoCD/Flux
