Position Overview:
The transportation coordinator is responsible for the velocity of domestic, interbranch and international shipments from Caterpillar and non-CAT vendors, who supply Finning with parts, equipment, attachments and non-inventory items. This role will work collaboratively with the sales, service operations and supply chain organizations to exceed on time delivery performance and revenue targets, while providing a positive customer experience and a high degree of safety.
Job Description:
Planning, arranging and managing the transportation of parts, equipment and non-inventory shipments.
Transportation rate quoting and negotiating.
Creating shipments in TMS (Manhattan), bills of lading and other required documentation.
Providing transportation visibility updates to internal and external customers.
Investigate damages, shortages, service failures
Transportation cost allocation

Knowledge
Post-secondary education in logistics, international trade, transportation management or an industry certification (CIFFA, PLOG, CITT).
Strong understanding of logistics, warehousing and shipping/receiving functions.
Knowledge of international shipping processes (air, ocean, and multimodal).
Proficiency with MS Office applications.
Previous experience with an TMS system.
Experience
2-3 years of experience (similar role) in the freight forwarding or transportation industries.
Accountability
Ensuring transportation vendors are approved and qualified to move shipments for Finning.
Maintaining and reinforcing a safety-first transportation operation.
Processing shipments in an efficient manner.
Providing an unparalleled level of customer service to both internal and external customers.
Managing transportation processes with a high standard of integrity and ethics.
Managing the cost effectiveness of Finning’s transportation.
