Ford strives to provide best-in-class cellular connectivity in its vehicles. The Cellular Services team is responsible for the software which makes that happen, from the cellular modem all the way up to user interactions, and we are looking for a talented and experienced software developer to join our team.
THE ROLE:
As a member of the Cellular Services software development team you will be responsible for:
designing and implementing new features for the existing Cellular Services sub-systems (SIM, SMS, system determination, GPS, etc), while maintaining the existing code base
ensuring that the Cellular Services sub-systems have optimal performance and power consumption on a Linux system
integrating and maintaining software from 3rd party vendors and open source projects
collaborating with internal and external teams to deliver cross-functional features that span multiple embedded systems
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field of study (Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada, an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required.)
3+ years’ experience software development experience
Experience with C and scripting languages
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
experience with cellular technologies including UMTS, LTE, 5G
experience with GPS and/or other GNSS technologies
experience with MQTT and SOA-based inter-process communication
experience with automotive software development technologies (CAN, AUTOSAR, etc)
experience with common development tools (e.g. git, repo, make, gcc, g++, gdb)
experience with real-time embedded programming, including concurrency and multi-threading
