FortWhyte Alive Looking for Human Resources Generalist at Winnipeg, MB Full Time

The Human Resources Generalist is the front-line contact to our employees and Leadership Team and will support the management and delivery of essential HR services including but not limited to; recruitment and selection, employee relations, training and development, performance management, grant administration and policy/procedure administration.

Term: January 2023 (one year maternity leave)

Key Responsibilities:

• Support and provide guidance to leaders as it relates to recruitment and selection, employee relations, policy and procedure interpretation, coaching, performance management and workforce planning
• Support training and development initiatives for various departments or employee groups
• Administer and lead the full recruitment cycle process (posting, screening, interviewing, selection, and retention) to ensure that best qualified candidates are sourced
• Integrated new employees into the Organization through the onboarding process
• Execute offboarding activities
• Provide advice and guidance to staff and management on the application and administration of HR policies and procedures and employment legislation to ensure compliance
• Research and apply for employment grant funding opportunities and manage all successful applications to ensure reporting requirements of the funding body are met
• Maintain HRIS, personnel files and documentation
• Oversee all time allocation and usage for all staff members (vacations, sick time, banked time, etc.)
• Communicate regularly with the Leadership Team to assist with HR issues, provide staffing updates and make HR-related recommendations
• Provide general Administrative Support such as preparation of general letters i.e., employment verification, transfer/promotion and leave letters
• Stay current on employment legislation and HR best practices and update the Leadership Team accordingly
• Run and create ad hoc reports as required
• Performs other HR administrative tasks as required

Qualifications:

• Diploma or degree in HR, HR designation such as CPHR or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• 2+ years’ related HR experience
• Strong knowledge of human resource best practices and applicable employment legislation
• Experience using the Microsoft Office Suite, in addition to exposure using various ATS or HRIS systems
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and proven ability to work cooperatively with other team members to accomplish shared goals
• Excellent organizational skills, strong ability to multi-task and demonstrated ability to manage and meet multiple deadlines
• Ability to work independently
• Proven problem-solving abilities
• Must possess strong attention to detail
• High personal integrity, professionalism and maturity
• Experience practicing HR at a not-for-profit Organization considered an asset
