Dairy Farmers of Ontario is hiring for a Director, Logistics to lead a team of 14 members in three main functions within the Logistics Department. This role will work closely and is instrumental in maintaining a mutually beneficial relationship with dairy processors, the Ontario Dairy Council (ODC), milk producers, transporters, and the Ontario Milk Transportation Association (OMTA).
Dairy Farmers of Ontario (DFO) is the marketing board for the largest sector of Ontario agriculture. Its mission is to provide leadership and excellence in the production and marketing of Canadian milk for a dynamic, profitable growing dairy industry. DFO’s current operations include 210 trucks transporting more than 3.1 billion litres of milk to 78 dairy processing plants within the province each year. A pending retirement has created the need to recruit a new Director, Logistics. The Director, Logistics is a member of the Senior Leadership Team, leading a team of 14 in three main functions within the Logistics Department: transportation, milk allocation and measurement. This role works closely and is instrumental in maintaining a mutually beneficial relationship with dairy processors, the Ontario Dairy Council (ODC), milk producers, transporters, and the Ontario Milk Transportation Association (OMTA).
The Director, Logistics oversees the efficient and effective utilization of transportation providers while providing excellent customer service to dairy producers and processors. Furthermore, the Director, Logistics assembles and interprets the necessary data to make informed business decisions and determines how DFO can leverage best practices in logistics and supply chain, while closely monitoring actual performance and improving DFO’s overall performance.
The Ideal Candidate has a Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field along with a professional designation in logistics or supply chain. You have a minimum of 15 years’ progressive logistics experience, including management experience. In particular, you have worked in a data rich environment and are experienced in gathering, analyzing and interpreting measurement metrics resulting in business performance improvements. Exposure to a regulatory, policy-driven environment as well as unionized environments; experience negotiating agreements is strongly desired. Fleet management experience (transport trucks) is an asset. Along with proven project management skills, you are results and goal-oriented, strategic, logical and perceptive with good judgement. Finally, bilingual capability (French and English) would be an asset.
