Using our learnings from Freddie, we recently launched Frida (www.talkwithfrida.com), a direct-to-consumer telemedicine provider that provides mental healthcare, starting with ADHD. People are in need of mental health services. In any given year, 1 in 5 Canadians experiences a mental illness. And by the time Canadians reach the age of 40, 1 in 2 have-or have had-a mental illness. Frida will provide a streamlined way to access ADHD care, without the yearlong waits commonly experienced in the traditional Canadian healthcare system.
About the Role:
We are looking for a VP, People to join our rapidly growing team. We have hired 20+ people since the beginning of 2022 and we are looking at doubling our headcount this year
Reporting to the COO and as a member of the senior management team, the VP, People is responsible for ensuring the people strategy and practices align with the organization’s mission, values, and direction to support organizational growth and scale.
We have a preference for people based in Calgary (where we have an office) but are also open to remote candidates in Canada.
Responsibilities:
Create, evolve, and champion people strategy and execution to continuously improve the employee experience as we double our headcount this year!
Act as an advisor and confidant to Senior Leadership Team, advise on topics such as organizational design, and talent, performance, and succession management. Coach senior leaders on key areas such as leadership, strategy, and team effectiveness.
Support the acceleration of employee development: Build out people practices/learning and development practices to ensure optimal access to career/personal development (coaching, mentoring, development programs or any other offering)
Support creating an Inclusive Culture: accountable for bringing inclusion and belonging, including empathy and awareness, into the regular cadence of the business.
Ensure all aspects of the People function are well-managed and meet both internal risk governance expectations and all legal and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:
You have 5+ years of people/HR experience and 3+ years of leadership experience in a start-up, helping a company grow from seed/Series A through multiple funding rounds
Proven capability in setting the people strategy in a start-up organization and partnering with senior level executives
Is comfortable engaging in debate and providing effective challenge as part of a senior leadership team and as the most senior leader of the People team
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent communication and presentation skills; both written and verbal
Familiar with working in healthtech or other early-stage start-ups is a bonus but not required
