This role is responsible for keeping day-to-day/systematic set of records of General Ledger and Capital transactions, leading the month-end close, and account reconciliations of two facilities. This role will also provide back up of payroll functions for the company. The ideal individual will not only fulfill these functions but also execute continuous improvement efforts within the financial function to increase efficiency through automation and improved processes. This is a 6-month contract position with possibility of extension.
Responsibilities:
Accounting:
- Lead month-end
- Responsible for closing of inventory module
- Provide critical preparation (and review) of month end journal entries
- Ensure matching of intercompany balances
- Maintain fixed asset module accounting – additions, disposals, and depreciation
- Complete monthly balance sheet schedules and reconciliation
- Report monthly on CAPEX spend by project
- Prepare and submit HST filing for the company
- Prepare Statistic Canada Reporting for the division
- Support year-end external financial audit by providing PBC requests – i.e. documentation, supporting calculations, explanations etc
- Support all quota-based reporting including CDC and various meat quotas
- Provide cross-divisional accounting support as necessary
- Overall responsibility for the preparation and through analysis of the financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow)
- This is an evolving role and addition responsibilities will be assigned
Payroll:
- Provide payroll-related KPI reporting for the company
- Be the back-up person for payroll processing for the company
Skills and Experiences:
- Undergraduate Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting
- Completed or working towards an Accounting Designation (CPA; CPA, CA; CPA, CMA; CPA, CGA)
- Minimum 4 years of experience within a similar position
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Experience in Food Manufacturing Facility with strong technical background preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft office; exposure to computerized manufacturing accounting system is a MUST
- High level of organizational and time management skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven self-starter, who requires limited supervision and direction, yet achieves tasks, overcomes problems, and provides effective direction and analysis
- Working knowledge of Dynamics NAV JustFoods ERP and is an asset
