Position: Education & Engagement Manager
Reports To: Community Programs Manager
Location: Parry Sound, Ontario with option for virtual work days
Wage: Level 4 $55,000/annum ($30.20/hr) starting salary & commensurate with experience
Terms: Permanent position. Full- or part-time, flexible start date, open to negotiation
Benefits: Available after a 3-6 month probationary period.
The Education & Engagement Manager is a senior position responsible for managing the education and outreach programming for Georgian Bay Biosphere (GBB) as an organization, leading on the strategic planning for youth engagement, developing partnerships and resources, and participating in the co-delivery of youth programs and public engagement events and activities with other staff.
We are looking for candidates who can facilitate learning opportunities outside of the classroom, who have effective teaching and engagement styles, and are creative thinkers for managing education
programming throughout the Georgian Bay Biosphere region so that programs have maximum impact on learners of all ages. A successful candidate will connect with youth in a variety of settings, implementing principles of outdoor, experiential, and transformative learning. This candidate will collaborate with Indigenous partners and support the delivery of land-based learning.
This dynamic position works with other Biosphere program staff to design and deliver learning and engagement activities for audiences including K-12 students, kids in the summer, community groups, and other stakeholders. These activities include outdoor lesson plans, workshops, public events, presentations, training, guided hikes, and more, focused on the topics of biodiversity, climate literacy, Anishinaabek ways of knowing, and sustainable living. Through this spectrum of activities, the candidate will also assist the organization to move closer to achieving our strategic goals and objectives as they relate to education and learning.
