The staff members of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner are committed to the provision of high quality services to Albertans. Activities performed enable the Office to certify the cause and manner of death in accordance with the Fatalities Inquiries Act; provide forensic service, assist in educating Albertans in time of grief; and develop and maintain a center of excellence in forensic pathology and toxicology.

This position is responsible for the technical aspects of the operation of the morgue in the Medical Examiner’s Office. This includes admission and release of bodies from the morgue, the preparation of bodies for positive identification, the preparation of bodies for autopsy or external examinations, the evisceration of bodies and weighing of organs during the autopsy, the collection of appropriate specimens, cleaning of workstations and the overall morgue maintenance.

Directly related education or experience will be considered on the basis of 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary.
