The Opportunity
PEBA is seeking a skilled and motivated individual to fill the position of Manager, Financial Reporting.
Reporting to the Director, Finance and Corporate Services, the Manager will oversee the following duties:
Pension Payroll Taxation for approximately 20,000 monthly payments;
Oversee accounting, financial statement preparation and audits for six pension and benefit plans under International Financial Accounting Standards (IFRS) and Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS);
Confirm all tax related pension administration system updates are tested and working as intended;
Participate in the Finance & Corporate Services leadership team; and
Provide expertise to PEBA in all pension payroll income tax related issues.
This position provides expert leadership to PEBA on all pension payroll taxation matters for member payments in Canada and globally. This also includes being the PEBA liaison to the Canada Revenue Agency and file quarterly and annual remittances of approximately $50 Million dollars.
As well, this position will lead the daily and monthly accounting including the annual audits for up to six pension and benefit plans. This includes working directly with many PEBA Branches, auditors and plan suppliers.
This position provides leadership for one direct report who is responsible for the daily accounting of the six pension and benefit plans, payments to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and reconciling monthly and annual filings to the CRA.
Ideal Candidate
Typically, the successful candidate for this position requires knowledge that would be obtained through a Bachelor of Administration or Commerce combined with a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
