POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The primary function of the Transportation Operations Analyst – Technology, is to develop and maintain supplier and carrier processes, documentation, and data exchange to support information tracking and measurement, data analysis, reporting tools and certification programs. This position will work closely with suppliers and service providers to enable emergent technologies with the objective of continued improvement and ongoing process optimization.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
Develop or enhance the Transportation team’s digital presence internally in SharePoint and Teams as well as externally.
Develop or enhance data interchange modules with suppliers and carriers to ensure the prompt and accurate availability of transactional transportation data.
Assist in the automation and systemic processing of Grainger Canada’s cargo claims to provide better and more complete strategic information to management.
Assist in the automation of the Transportation team’s back-office process flows with the use of Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI and other similar tools.
Be the main liaison between Grainger Canada Transportation and the technology and automation contacts at suppliers, carriers, brokers, and third-party service providers
Execute and communicate change control when supplier information, processes, methods, or compliance varies from desired state.
Develop and maintain processes, SOP’s and policies to ensure supplier and carrier performance adheres to company and customer specifications.
Participate in cross-functional problem-solving teams addressing a wide range of issues from process improvement to problem solving, root cause analysis and non-conformance.
Other duties as assigned at the discretion of the department manager.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
University degree or College diploma in Computer Science and/or Logistics or technical equivalent preferred. Working Experience in the Transportation or Logistics fields would be an asset.
Excellent working knowledge of database applications such as SQL Server, Teradata, MS Access etc. and the associated tools to extract and use data from those databases.
Above average skills in the Microsoft suite of productivity and automation applications including but not limited to, Power BI, Sharepoint, MS Teams, Power Automate, Power Apps, Dataverse, Power Pages, Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Visio.
5+ years of experience in the application of technology in the Transportation field, with particular emphasis on API’s, EDI, performance data and mapping/routing technologies.
Excellent technical, verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills that foster collaboration within team, with business partners and with cross-functional teams.
Above average time management skills and ability to follow-up consistently with suppliers, carriers, service providers and other departments.
Visualize, conceptualize, and actualize new concepts, systems, tools, and programs.
Detail oriented organizational skills and strong attention to details.
Leadership skills that include acting as a change agent.
