Our Project Delivery Group (PDG) helps clients with world-class project delivery from studies to building assets, operating the assets, and developing efficiencies through our people, methodologies, governance, and systems. Our engineering and project management and construction disciplines ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable delivery of projects globally across the metals and mining, infrastructure, and energy sectors.
The Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for performing logistics studies at the early stages of projects, preparing study reports, developing the Logistics Execution Plan, and implementing it at the start of the Project Execution phase with Hatch. The ideal candidate must have a thorough knowledge of planning, multimodal methods, routes, transport schedules, and how rates are built up for the movement of equipment, materials, and parts to ensure that all project materials/supply items are delivered to the site in accordance with project requirements and schedule.
Responsibilities / tasks
Ensures at all stages that the project Incoterms have been accurately and effectively interpreted by the supplier and are strictly adhered in process.
Clear understanding of the customs and phytosanitary regulations and requirements. HS (Harmonized System) tariff process, procedures, lead times, and company policies or preference to ensure cost-effective and timely movement of materials and supplies.
Implements the logistics plan in the project execution phase
Knowledgeable about auditing freight bills, bills of lading, and filing for claims
Interacts with the project controls, purchasing, expediting, vendor quality surveillance and site materials control to ensure that the logistics execution plan is correctly implemented
Coordinates logistics activities with Site Operations
Maintains the freight journal
Provides visibility of materials movement to the project team in the form of forecasted shipments as prescribed and required by the Project Management team. Either through the use of materials management systems or/also the Freight Forwarder’s Tracking System
Interacts with the expediting team to obtain required information and shipping release notes to activate shipments
Ensures that the Freight Forwarder (FF)/Third Party Logistics (3PL) is provided with the necessary export documentation to effectively execute their mandate
Issue shipping instructions to the FF/3PL
Interacts with the Site Logistics Coordinator and the Site Materials Manager to provide them with the required materials management reports
Performs financial reporting and provision of forecasted cost and shipments
Superior level of understanding about why a given Incoterms strategy has been selected for use on the project.
Develops contingency plans, monitors the situation and implements emergency / critical path delivery should the need arise to support the project schedule
Ensures that shipments are managed in accordance to the client marine insurance policy where required and ensures that incidents and claims related to the marine insurance policy is dealt with in the pre-described manner
Manages delivery to site against schedule and the adherence of the FF/3PL to the delivery schedule provided by the FF/3PL
Qualifications
10+ years of experience within the logistics and transportation domain
Experience with the transportation of dangerous goods (TGD)
Formal training in the field of logistics (or demonstrated equivalent experience)
Good knowledge of import/export operations and Incoterms
Thorough understanding of procurement processes and corporate governance requirements
Experience and/or detailed knowledge with materials management and related activities
Proven negotiation skills
Excellent understanding of project execution, especially materials management and scheduling
Ability to communicate effectively with local FF/3PL service providers.
