Position Overview:

As a Senior Accountant at HBA Bookkeeping & Accounting Inc., you will play a pivotal role in our dynamic and diverse team of professionals. Your primary focus will be to assist in delivering high-quality tax, bookkeeping, accounting, and compliance services to our clients. You will collaborate closely with our PBA, CPB, and Senior Staff, contributing to the success of our company and the growth of your own career.

Responsibilities:

As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for:

• Analyze financial information, accounting processes and operational procedures; provide account reconciliations and propose adjusting entries.
• Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations ensuring accuracy and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Prepare quarterly and year-end financial statements as applicable.
• Provide audit requirements to internal and external auditors and respond to inquiries.
• Assist in the planning, execution, and completion of a wide range of Audit, Review and Compilation engagements.
• Preparation of complex personal, corporate, non-profit organization information and charitable tax returns.
• Inform Staff of engagement status and manage engagement progress.
• Work closely with Staff to assist with the month-end close
• Provide personal, attentive service to clients to encourage productive working relationships.
• Provide support to Staff on various tasks as required.
• Other roles as required.

A Successful Candidate Will Have:

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

• 3+ years post-qualification public accounting experience.
• Profound knowledge of Canadian GAAP, audit, review procedures, and tax compliance.
• A strong foundation in bookkeeping and an aptitude for working on multiple engagements simultaneously.
• Exceptional time management and organizational skills, combined with the ability to make independent decisions.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in accounting software and the ability to quickly adapt to new programs.
• A team-oriented mindset and the ability to provide client-focused service.
• An active Canadian CPA designation is an asset.

The ideal candidate will have substantial exposure to monthly closing processes, forecasting and budgeting, and customer billing. They will be organized and approach each issue with an analytical mindset.
